The results of dielectric and resistivity measurements on the Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) type compound Sr3MnTiO7 (SMTO) is presented here. The dielectric response of the compound was recorded in the temperature range 10-300 K with the probing frequency from 500 Hz-5 MHz. We observe a broad anomaly at ~ 200 K in the temperature dependence of dissipation factor (tan?) and corresponding change in slope in the dielectric constant ?r(T) which may be attributed to a difference in the conduction mechanism below and above 200 K. The overall dielectric dispersion of SMTO resembles to that of the double perovskites Sr2MnTiO6 and La2NiMnO6 which follows the modified Debye relaxation equation. This indicates a relaxor type dielectric behavior of SMTO may be due to the contribution of grain boundary effects. 2016 Author(s).en_US
